Some Mod songs for the weekend

This week we have two mod songs from 1980.

First up is an unusual one. A song called “Acting My Age” by little known and short lived band Graduate. Graduate may not have been successful but band members and friends Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal went on as a duo to form the massively successful 80s band Tears For Fears, known for hits such as”Shout” and “Everybody Wants to Rule The World”. Here they are doing a pretty good mod style song.

Next up is “The Modfather” himself, Paul Weller, along with Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler they were The Jam, the defining mod group.
This is their first number one hit “Going Underground” which is as perfect a song of its type as it can be. Funnily enough there seems to be a story that due to a factory pressing error the A and B sides got swapped and this was originally the B side to “Dreams of Children”. It later became a double “A” side. “Going Underground” was by far the better track though.
