Music

I love lots of different styles of music, and will post all sorts of music when I get round to it, but I have a particular fondness for soul/funk/disco which makes me wanna dance. These songs from the 80s/90s are particular favourites. The artists are not well known at all as it was all about the song and feel. All have great production, stunning vocals, great beats and hooks, and are just so uplifting. The # gives the UK chart peak position, which doesn’t matter that much really as these are club hits. The funny thing is that at the time I didn’t realise they were big club hits, I just knew I liked them!

Great distinctive piano opening riff and then Limerick’s vocal kicks in and it doesn’t let go. Consistently voted one of the greatest dance tracks of all time by dance aficionados.

Apparently this US track had a big impact on dance music in the UK in the genre in the clubs called House music. I was totally unaware of this at the time and just loved what apparently had influence on UK underground music which later came to be called Garage.

Kim English – Nite Life – 1994 #35

I can get lost in this hypnotic track. Builds and builds in the opening minutes and then hurls itself off the cliff into driving beats. Maybe a bit much for the general chart public, hence the low chart placing but I love it!
